City Permit Path
Staff SMS opt-in
Last updated August 31, 2026
City Permit Path (Development Services Hub) can text city staff when a review or inspection is assigned to them. Texts are sent from a U.S. toll-free number on Azure Communication Services. These are transactional work notices only — not marketing, not promotional, and not sent to the public.
How staff opt in
- Sign in to the Hub with your city work account.
- Open Settings → Profile and enter your mobile number in the Mobile field, then save.
- A city administrator can also enter a staff mobile on Administration → Users.
Saving a mobile number is consent to receive assignment SMS at that number. The Hub stores the number as phone_e164 (a standard +1 format). If you never save a number, you will not receive texts.
This is a labeled mock of the staff Profile form. It is not a live signup and does not submit a number.
How to opt out
Open Settings → Profile, clear the Mobile field, and save. An administrator can also clear the number on Administration → Users. After the number is removed, the Hub has nowhere to send a text and assignment SMS stops. You can also reply STOP to a message if the carrier supports it; clearing the number in the Hub is the reliable way to stay opted out.
What the texts say
Typical messages name the city workspace, the record, and that work was assigned. Example shape: a short notice that a review or inspection was assigned, with a link into the Hub. Frequency matches real assignments — not a recurring campaign.
